Human Research Before the AI Frontier
Compare four studies from 2010–2025 through their results, assumptions, and remaining gaps. This editorial route prepares readers for the 2026 claims; it does not assert direct influence between the studies. These are time-only scenes without inferred discovery locations.

Guth–Katz — distances and the logarithmic gap
Guth and Katz proved a lower bound cN/log N for the number of distinct distances determined by N points in the plane. Polynomial methods and incidence geometry sharply narrowed the scale of an old problem. The remaining logarithmic gap from known lattice examples must be distinguished from the higher-dimensional claims made in 2026, which do not close the planar gap.
